Problems bedeviling the community Illiteracy and unemployment are largely responsible for backwardness among Muslim youths in India, especially Uttar Pradesh. A lot is being done on the religious front, but very little on issues related to education and socio-economic development and growth of Muslims.Aaghaz Foundation is a movement or collection of community resources to eradicate this problem.

Where are we Today ? Aaghaz Meeting

We have come a long way since that afternoon in October 2004 when we formed the basic framework of Aaghaz Foundation and took the cause of educational reforms among minority children by helping seven underprivileged children to go to school.

In the 1 ½ years that have rolled by since then, Aaghaz has grown from strength to strength. We are proud to say that today Aaghaz is paying the fees of over 250 school children in various schools and colleges located throughout Lucknow. Unable to afford the high costs, most of these students would have been otherwise forced to discontinue their education.

The phenomenal success of Aaghaz could not have been possible without the tremendous support of members like you who have pitched in with their time and money for the cause.
So high are the motivations levels of our members that of late some of them have been spending their entire weekends in conducting School Surveys and Neighborhood Contact Programmes. Aaghaz is now a MOVEMENT – something which we all believe in.

In keeping up with our guiding principles, not a single penny has been spent on the Foundation (all office expenditure, including stationary, postal expenses etc. are borne by the members voluntarily) nor was any grant accepted from any government/ private institution.

Aaghaz depends for its growth and existence on generous contributions (Rs. 100/- or more per month) by members. The members not only help the Foundation financially but also keep it working like a well-oiled machinery by actively giving their suggestions and participating in our meetings and surveys. Aaghaz Foundation also accepts Zaka’at funds. Members are therefore requested to route these funds through the Foundation.

Members may note that when Aaghaz adopts a child – it does so for a minimum period of one year. Subject to the student’s performance in the academic session, the scholarship is withdrawn or extended for another year. Hence we request our members that when they commit to sponsor a student, they should ensure that the fees for the entire year period is provided to Aaghaz on a monthly/quarterly basis.

There are several members whose sponsorship/membership contributions are pending for a long time. We request them to honour their commitments failing which the sponsored student would be deprived of further education as he/she will have to quit school in mid-session.

InshaAllah, our next meeting will be held at Hotel Avadh (Opp: Bhopal House), Lalbagh on June 4th, 2006 at 10:00 AM Sharp.
